Share a Joke

A Calgary high school launched a free joke hotline for seniors back in April of 2020.  They wanted to reach out and share some happiness and the message has gained momentum in ways that the small western high school never dreamed of!  Comedian and actor Billy Crystal is one of the latest contributors to the hotlines jokes and James Corden has featured the hotline on his late-night CBS talkshow.   They have received over seventeen thousand calls to date.

The hotline, available by calling 1-877-JOY-4ALL, (1-877-569-4255) offers pre-recorded jokes, stories, motivational passages and poems.

To contribute your own joke, visit or @joy4allproject on Instagram.

Self Care Series

What is self-care?
Self-care is any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. It seems like a simple concept but it’s something we often forget. Self-care is key to improved mood and reduced anxiety, increasing your sense of well-being and helping foster good relationships.

As Participation Canada says, everything gets better when you get active! You may have seen their TV ad, but Participation Canada also has a fun presentation that outlines what getting active does for you!

There is no end to the fitness apps, YouTube videos, and at-home fitness routines you can google!  Take a look and see what motivates you.  The nice thing is, you can choose something different every day and never be bored by a routine.

If you are looking for something a little more personal, many local fitness studios and yoga instructors have moved to an online format. See the list of local businesses and what they are offering at  Zoom your way to Zomba or Zoom your way to Zen! You can get a little of the community experience of group exercise while supporting local businesses and may even see some familiar faces.  Don’t worry if you’re a little shy, you can always turn off your camera!

Online Lyme Disease & Tick information Session

Leeds Grenville Health Unit

Spring is here and getting outside is on everyone’s mind!

The counties of LeedsGrenville and Lanark had the highest rate of new Lyme disease cases in 2018, triggered by bacteria from infected black-legged ticks.  We may not roam too far this spring but even a back yard playtime or a solitary, woodland ramble can be spoiled by an encounter with a tick!

Help to keep your family safe and out of doctor’s offices and emergency rooms because of a tick bite! We’d like to share an online presentation from the Health unit so that we can provide this information.
