We’ve got you connected

We offer free use of public computers and free wireless Internet connections at both of our branches. You do not need to have a library membership card to use our computers.

  • The Kemptville Norenberg Branch has nine public computers (one is an accessible workstation) along with two online public catalogues computers.
  • The Burritts Rapids Branch has one public access computer (upstairs).

Public computers are equipped with various Internet browsers, media players, image viewers, and software, including Open Office Applications and Acrobat Reader. Earbuds ($1.50) and USB drives ($3.00) are available at the front desk.

When using the Internet on our public computers, patrons are prompted to read and agree to our terms of use before use. Read our policies related to Internet and technology use.

Copying and Printing

You can make copies at the public printer beside the front desk. As well, all public computers print to this printer. The cost for large copy/print jobs may be negotiable. Black & White 25¢ per page / Colour 50¢ per page

Scan to Email

You can scan documents and send them directly to an email address from the printer. We apologize, but no fax service is available.

Using a Computer

Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with some possible exceptions.

Children’s Computers

We offer three computer stations in the children’s section of the Kemptville Norenberg Branch, with a range of learning activities and games, in both English and in French.

A Word About Copyright

The NGPL has a license with Access Copyright, which gives permission to photocopy from a vast collection of published books, magazines and newspapers. Under this license, you may make copies of library materials using the following guidelines:

Photocopy up to 10% of a published work or the following, whichever is greater:

  • An entire chapter which is no more than 20% of a book
  • An entire newspaper article or a page
  • One short story, play, poem, essay, or article from a book or periodical containing other published works
  • One entire entry from an encyclopedia, dictionary, or reference book

No copies may be made of sheet music, the works of any copyright owner who has opted out, works published by Canada’s federal, provincial or territorial governments, and by most foreign government.
